Kakheti is an area of great interest as a wine destination (being the region with the greatest variety of wine in Georgia), as well as for its enchanting landscape and gastronomic flair.
Wine production in Georgia dates back to the Bronze Age and, it is said, the word wine, or vin, is derived from the Georgian ღვინო…‘gvino’.
Georgia’s traditional wine making method of fermenting grapes in earthenware, egg-shaped vessels has been added to the world heritage list of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organisation (UNESCO).
The following locations in Tbilisi are where you can buy and taste Eko’s wines:
Eko began making organic wines in 2011, after a career as a doctor.
Eko is experimenting with different grape varieties to plant in the Kakheti region of Georgia. He also works very closely with organic small vine growers in Western Georgia.
Currently at his marani he has five hectares of grapes on the slopes and five hectares at another vineyard also located on slopes.
