Eco Certifications & Efforts

Just as we admire each of our hosts for their singularity, we appreciate that their sustainability journeys are also unique. Because of this, we do not require our hosts to have an eco certification or two under their belt, we simply guide them on improving their sustainable business practices one imperfect – but positive – step at a time. If a host has eco certifications they will be shown below, if not, then know we are working towards this together.

  • Preserve all the plants & trees and wild animals inside the resort.
  • Zero plastic inside the resort (refillable bottles of water, lemon-grass straws, no plastic bags/covers….)
  • Daily beach cleaning on the coast of the resort and in the neighbouring area
  • Company regulation: strictly prohibit any actions causing harm to wild animals and plants.
  • Regarding water conservation and energy-saving activities, all resort employees are well aware of the importance of these issues; we turn off all electric devices and lights when not in use and we prefer to utilise natural light and ventilation. All rooms have signs reminding clients to preserve water and electricity, and to keep the same towels and washcloths if they do not use them. We think that small actions are important in having a significant positive impact.

Protection of nesting & hatching turtles

  • We ensure that we do not illuminate the beach to allow the turtles to nest and hatch in darkness which ensures that the upon hatching the turtles will be able to safely and quickly navigate towards the sea.
  • During the turtle-laying season we build a fence around the nest to protect them and request that all of our guests observe respectfully from a distance. Any and all actions that could harm both the turtles or the eggs are banned.
  • In our gift shop we also sell small stuffed turtles for guests to purchase. Each stuffed turtle is handmade by a group of people with disabilities at Maison Chance Vietnam.

NGOs & Local Impact Projects Supported

Each of our hosts strive to have a positive impact on their local communities. Some of our hosts already have established connections with local partners to enrich the lives and wellbeing of their communities, others are in the process of creating these long term relationships. If a host has local NGO connections they will be shown below, if not, then know we are working towards this together.

  • Local suppliers; we always prefer using the fresh local ingredients for F&B activities.
  • Regarding supporting community development & local infrastructure; many of our team members are local people who live just a few kilometres from the resort and as such we are supportive of local people’s employment.
  • Our Host, Ms. Le Ngoc Quynh, has a fund that helps our employees if and when they are struggling to pay their children’s school fees. Ms. Le Ngoc Quynh also contributes financially towards the construction of a school in Con Dao Islands as well as making annual donations to protect local forests.
  • Regarding supporting local charity activity in place and supporting a local NGO; the stuffed turtles we sell in our giftshop are the products of a local charity activity that supports people with disabilities.
  • We currently sponsor the following charity events; Operation SMILE; “Hieu ve trai time”, “Nuôi em”
  • We currently sponsor the building of swimming pools and playgrounds for primary schools in remote areas of Central of Vietnam
  • Rewarding to children of employees achieving the good results in their study

  • Contribute to the National Park Conversation Fund
  • Efforts to clean the common beach areas
  • Presenting guests with canvas bags to avoid the use of plastic bags
  • Employment and training of local people to elevate their knowledge & skills
  • Support local businesses by purchasing goods from local suppliers
  • Localise board of management of the resorts: all heads of departments are Vietnamese

What our hosts say..

Transparency is essential if we are all going to grow and improve together and this is why we have dedicated this section to sharing what we love about each place and its hosts. We work with each of our hosts to improve their guest experiences, sustainability practices and local impact, this is where you can learn more about that along with what still needs to be improved, the measures being taken to ensure our hosts continue to move forward and every now and then we’ll come back to update you on their progress.

Located about 185 km (115 miles) south of Vung Tau City and 230 km (143 miles) from Ho Chi Minh City, Con Dao Island, also known as Con Dao National Park, is an archipelago of 16 mostly uninhabited mountainous islets just off the southern coast of Vietnam.

The island is fascinating for both its location—there aren’t many other beach islands in Vietnam—and its dramatic history and legends. It has so much potential to develop as a luxury destination with limited boutique resorts.

Poulo Condor Boutique Resort & Spa is ideally located alongside the wide stretch of sandy beach called Vông Beach and right at the foot of Chua Mountain, which provides an amazing backdrop to the resort.
Inspired by a harmonious blend of Vietnamese traditional design and French colonial heritage dating from the early 20th century, the resort reflects the richness of Vietnamese culture with the vibrancy of the present.

WE ARE YOUR HOSTS-
Ms. Le Ngoc Quynh & Team Poulo Condor Boutique Resort & Spa

“Unlike other remote islands of Vietnam, Con Dao Island’s infrastructure is quite established. My first time here, I felt like I was back in the early 80s, when the streets were quiet even during the day, the nature is raw, the people are friendly and rustic and daily life is slow and peaceful. There is hardly any engine noise, and daily life is slow and peaceful.

Besides, my father had so many memories of Con Dao Island. He was a prisoner there during the war, and he wanted to express his thanks to the island as best he could.” – Ms. Le Ngoc Quynh

Ms. Le Ngoc Quynh highly recommends guests staying at the resort sample the local street food, including bún mắm – a local fermented seafood noodle soup –  lẩu đuôi bò – oxtail hotpot – and a local restaurant called Thu Ba, serving traditional seafood dishes from the region.

For the future, we are focusing on the staycation experience of our guests, we are planning to develop more wellness programs and activities for in-house guests. We are also investing into elevating our customer service experience, including providing Hosts for each villa, to ensure a memorable trip experience for each and every guest.
