Zlata Ladjica is a historic house carefully restored and crafted, nestled in the heart of Ljubljana to be the 5-star boutique hotel of choice for all travellers. Stay with us to discover Ljubljana; a city of stories, legends, architecture, culture, gastronomy, love and dragons. Fifteen rooms, fifteen authentic stories of Ljubljana through time. Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia, is one of the smallest, most welcoming and charming cities in Europe. The most popular version of the name is that it comes from the word Ljubljena, which means “beloved”. Indeed, such a picturesque little city will make you fall in love. The river that runs through it, the Ljubljanica, is known as “the river of love”. In addition, the city is enchanted by many legends related to dragons, so it is said that Ljubljana is the city of love and dragons.
Our aim is to leave a minimal environmental footprint, so we are committed to providing local, in-season food and drinks, and encourage our guests to make good use of the excellent water that Ljubljana supplies through the many taps and water fountains around the city. We have minimised the use of plastics throughout the hotel and use only environmentally-friendly cleaning products.
Our room furnishings feature restored old Persian rugs, chairs fashioned from recycled fishing nets, and restored antique furniture. The bedsheets contain environmentally friendly plant-derived Tencel fibre, which requires substantially less water for its production than conventional cotton bedding.
The design and comfort of our house merge with a passionate team, committed to provide the best personalized hotel and restaurant stories for our guests. Through this journey we enable the creation of unique new wonderful stories and long-lasting relationships.

Community work
We support our local rotary club, community and people in need by hosting special charity events selling our most special bottles of wine to raise money for families or persons in need
We own a second house in Medana village where we manage the contemporary art gallery. Martina organises cultural events such as literature talks, art talks, exhibitions and artist residencies as part of our Cultural NGO program. Through this we are able to promote artists and designers by exposing and selling their works to the public.
We promote local small businesses, alongside selling local homemade products such as jam, honey and olive oil and employ local young people to further support our community.
