Boutique is Beautiful

OUR STORY

Housed in an 18th century palazzo, 19 Rooms has been lovingly and attentively renovated from scratch into a beautiful, no expense spared but very down-to-earth boutique hotel.

We are passionate about service and helping guests create memorable experiences once you step into our little gem. We want you to feel at home and also want to connect you with the best locations, restaurants and experiences Malta can offer.

Eco Certifications

Just as we admire each of our hosts for their singularity, we appreciate that their sustainability journeys are also unique. Because of this, we do not require our hosts to have an eco certification or two under their belt, we simply guide them on improving their sustainable business practices one imperfect – but positive – step at a time. If a host has eco certifications they will be shown below, if not, then know we are working towards this together.

NGOs & Local Impact Projects Supported

Each of our hosts strive to have a positive impact on their local communities. Some of our hosts already have established connections with local partners to enrich the lives and wellbeing of their communities, others are in the process of creating these long term relationships. If a host has local NGO connections they will be shown below, if not, then know we are working towards this together.

What our hosts say..

Transparency is essential if we are all going to grow and improve together and this is why we have dedicated this section to sharing what we love about each place and its hosts. We work with each of our hosts to improve their guest experiences, sustainability practices and local impact, this is where you can learn more about that along with what still needs to be improved, the measures being taken to ensure our hosts continue to move forward and every now and then we’ll come back to update you on their progress.

Lars von der Wettern, Founder & Host @ Singular Places – October 2021
When we learned about the great history of Mike´s place, we fell in love. Especially now as he and his team work hard to become Malta’s first Carbon Neutral Place. Additionally they have just recently started to focus on supporting and partnering with nearby small businesses within Valletta – so look out for their first community project!

19 Rooms has been renovated beautifully and with sensitivity to honour the history of the building while still remaining comfortable and luxurious for modern tastes. It’s the perfect place from which to explore the magnificent walled city of Valletta.

19 Rooms is located in the heart of the capital city of Valletta – just a 3-minute walk from the activities on the main street and a flight of stairs away from the coastline. Valletta is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and as such, the city boasts incredible Baroque architecture, several churches, museums and galleries, as well as impressive historical landmarks such as the Grand Master’s Palace, St John’s Co-Cathedral and Fort St Elmo, making it a fascinating place to explore.

Complementing the rich history and architecture, Valletta also boasts a bustling and eclectic restaurant and bar scene.

The capital city is also the central hub to Malta’s bus network; accessible from the main entrance to Valletta, guests can easily reach various sites, attractions and places of interest, around the island. Guests can also tap into a range of eco-friendly mobility options, such as scooters, motor bikes and cars.

I AM YOUR HOST –
Michael Xuereb

Travel and education are 2 of my biggest passions in life. I fell in love with travel from a young age and my first serious job was in international education. This combined education and travel.. so I remained there for a full 20 years! My work involved a lot of travel and I got the opportunity to see so many places, meet amazing people and experience hospitality in a variety of ways. These experiences gave me the energy to move into hospitality and boutique hotels.

Hospitality for me is about exceptional service and being an enabler for your guests experience to help them get the most out of their holiday or business trip. Sitting on top of that is the need to have an eco-friendly and sustainable operation, were we recognise the realities of climate change and focus on reducing our footprint and being a responsible part of our community.
