Eco Certifications

Just as we admire each of our hosts for their singularity, we appreciate that their sustainability journeys are also unique. Because of this, we do not require our hosts to have an eco certification or two under their belt, we simply guide them on improving their sustainable business practices one imperfect – but positive – step at a time. If a host has eco certifications they will be shown below, if not, then know we are working towards this together.

Ecostars

Ecostars® is a specific sustainability certification for hotels that awards eco-stars based on a hotel’s environmental impact per stay. Ecostars is a member or is recognised by international organisations such as the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), and national organisations such as the Spanish Tourism Board.

Hidden within an ancient medieval village tucked away amongst the Lower Mountains of Navarra you will find a space created to savour the finest things that life has to offer.

Surrounded by nature, the hotel invites you to get lost and reconnect with nature. 9 unique rooms and several indoor and outdoor areas make this landscape hotel a unique place where your sense of self can be restored and revitalised.

True to our commitment to the maintenance of local ways of life; we promote respect for the environment and the people who inhabit it. We are proud to showcase the very best of our territory, a journey through the senses where images, aromas, textures, sounds, flavours and good conversations will combine to make your stay a truly unique experience.

WE ARE YOUR HOSTS –
Ramón Navarro & Patxi Gomez

We are Patxi and Ramón and we are the precursors of the experiential project that is Heredad Beragu. We feel really fortunate to be able to enjoy these natural surroundings with such cultural heritage and we work hard every day to promote the sustainability of our rural environment, without forgetting about the enjoyment and holiday experiences of our guests. Come visit us and we will show you the best this land has to offer.

One of our main values is our respectful relationship with the rural environment and this includes the people around us, while also trying to promote local consumption by buying fresh seasonal products from the local markets and grocers.

We also collaborate with the culture of the land and promote activities that are respectful with our surroundings.

Our commitment and respect for the rural and natural environment that surrounds us began when we had the idea to build Heredad Beragu, classified as a “sustainable building” by recycling 90% of materials removed from the old construction. The hotel is designed to provide maximum energy efficiency: power for heating and hot water is supplied by biomass and solar energy, “class A¨ appliances, low consumption lighting, sealed doors and windows, systematic recycling and we have an  organic vegetable garden and chicken coop.

At Novavila we aim for our guests to enjoy their stay, to immerse themselves within the atmosphere, the produce and the people of our destination. All elements have been considered with the utmost care to represent the spirit that characterises the eclectic style of Vilanova Peña.

That is why our visitors can purchase any of the objects, pieces of furniture or accessories that are here and take them to their homes to continue to enjoy them.
And for our guests’ enjoyment to be complete, we also invite you to try the Albariño wine that we, as a family, have been making for many years now. Our wine is the result of a painstaking selection process and careful elaboration, we hope you enjoy it.

OUR STORY

Ever since our holiday to this spectacular region in 2008, we knew that one day this would become our home. After searching for 3 years and spending every spare moment travelling from the Netherlands to Spain, we finally found what we were looking for; a beautiful, traditional finca surrounded by mostly old cork and holm oaks in the very heart of the Sierra de Aracena y Picos de Aroche natural park.

  • PERFECT START TO YOUR DAY

Breakfast is only worth having when somebody else makes it for you

  • IMPRESSIVE CHESTNUT BEAMS

The use of soft and warm natural tones harmonise with the surrounding views

  • NATURE IN ITS FULL GLORY

The ecological pond is a stunning place to sunbathe, swim or to just be at one with nature

  • LA VIRGEN DE LA CORONADA

Immerse within the local way of life by joining the Pilgrimage “de la Virgen de la Coronada” through the village

Lucas & Johan

Since his first visit to Spain it has always been Lucas’ dream to live there, for Johan this has not always been so obvious. But as the years passed, Johan also felt ready for a different way of life, and with his hospitality industry background the choice to start a Bed & Breakfast felt like a natural next step.

After a long search within the surroundings of the Sierra de Aracena mountain range we found the perfect place to enjoy and share the Spanish way of life and our finca with our guests. We have since spent the last 10 years cultivating our local knowledge in terms of nature, culture, gastronomy and people to provide a unique and insightful stay for each and every guest.

AFP Miralles-Orpinell

11 years ago Jordi founded an association for forest management and fire prevention; APF Miralles-Orpinell. He was the president for the first few years and recently took over the presidency once more. Currently this association manages 13 municipalities in the area with a total of 15,000 ha of forest.

In July 2021 a large fire (1700 ha) was within the scope of the association. They worked all summer with various administrations and a Restoration Project has been drawn up for the burnt area to encourage the vegetation to grow back, prevent erosion and promote biodiversity.

Miralles-Orpinell

Anoia Tourisme

Jordi actively participates in the creation of the region’s new tourism board to connect all of the local tourist services and to promote the region of Anoia as a slow and sustainable tourism destination. This is expected to boost the local economy, infrastructure and provide more jobs to locals.

Anoia Tourisme

Accessible & Inclusive Tourism

Can Morei are also dedicated to their accessibility project and work hard to provide accessible tourism for all. On the International Day of Tourism they participated in two presentations, one at the University of Baja California in Mexico and the other at the Tourism Fair in Bergamo to further share their knowledge and promote good practices within accessibility tourism.

Lars von der Wettern, Founder & Host @ Singular Places – November 2021

The Reixachs family have inspired me immensely from the first with their dedication towards combining very natural design in a historic building and offering inclusive and accessible stays for their guests. It’s also fantastic to see how committed they are to their local community and how they have established a strong collaboration with other local tourism businesses to create a hub of sustainable and slow tourism in the Anoia region which will benefit their local economy and people.

Their ongoing sustainability efforts – including a 25,000 litre rainwater collection tank, insulation certified at the maximum level, use of natural materials and a 60kw heating and hot water biomass boiler – are commendable. They use local suppliers as much as possible, offer local organic wines to guests and promote local places of cultural interest, particularly heritage cultural tours. We are so excited to watch a new cluster of sustainable Hosts form within this region!

You’ll find us in the heart of the Anoia region, within the Carme valley beside the river. Walking or cycling tours from the house, exploring the river and its waterfalls and the vast landscape of vineyards are delightful options for guests. A nearby 15th Century Gothic church and several small villages with restaurants and wine producers enchant the culturally curious.

The apartments are fully equipped with appliances well-suited for family life. The surrounding villages offer local restaurants to enjoy Mediterranean food and local wines and it’s possible to organise wine tastings and small musical concerts for groups.
